Creating data records in the IMDS system
To create an IMDS entry, a wide range of information about the article is required in order to meet the system’s specifications. Therefore the components must be broken down into their individual parts.
The virtual display of material data is based on the material list. A well-structured material list containing all the relevant material information reduces both processing time and costs. We would be happy to assist you with data preparation in advance.
Every customer has their own part numbers and item codes. Large OEMs also have additional requirements regarding data submission. We can help you ensure that these customer requirements are included in the correct place within your data set.
Is a material or an existing component changing? No problem. We’ll work with you to keep track of everything and implement the changes on your behalf in accordance with IMDS rules and your requirements.
We will prepare the necessary information for the notification either together with you or on your behalf.
Based on a material list, we create IMDS data records, keep them up to date or amend them on your behalf.
Does your supplier use a different (technical) language? We’re happy to step in and request the necessary data in a targeted manner.
Are you part of the automotive supply chain? If so, depending on the product and stage of the value chain, you will most likely need to submit IMDS data records to your customers alongside your components. Whilst this is not a legal requirement, it is a globally established system in which legally required material compliance information is communicated via a shared platform.
We prepare and update your safety data sheets. With our many years of experience in chemicals legislation and the assessment of hazardous substances, we can assist you quickly, reliably and on time.
We guide you safely through the entire CE marking process. We identify the relevant EU regulations for your product, carry out the necessary risk assessment and prepare the complete technical documentation.

IMDS stands for International Material Data System.
GADSL stands for Global Automotive Declaration Substance List. This list brings together a wide range of material and substance regulations from the EU and certain non-EU countries. This approach is a voluntary industry initiative designed to ensure responsible and sustainable product development by car manufacturers and their suppliers. This minimises individual requirements and ensures cost-effective management.
The IMDS itself is a voluntary system. However, it implements the requirements for the reporting of information on a wide range of legally regulated substances in a standardised format.
