Chemical Compliance in Turkey – Secure Market Access with Local Expertise
With the introduction of the KKDIK Regulation (comparable to the European REACH Regulation), Turkey has established a demanding chemicals legislation. At the same time, the SEA Regulation (Turkish equivalent of the CLP Regulation) regulates the classification, labeling, and safety data sheets (SDSs) for hazardous substances and mixtures.
One special feature: SDSs may only be prepared or countersigned by qualified specialists registered in Turkey. This means that even correctly translated and structured documents will not meet the requirements without local support. Furthermore, Turkish law requires a domestic contact person for mandatory registration – especially for substances covered by KKDIK. Companies without a branch in Turkey therefore require a local representative, e.g., through an Only Representative (OR) solution.
